Vice President

Fred Desjarlais

Fred has been part of our senior leadership and Management team since joining the firm in 1995 as General Supt. Part of the Executive Management Team, Fred is responsible for three operating companies including, Volker Stevin Highways Ltd, McNally Contractors Ltd. in Lethbridge, and Lakes District Maintenance Inc. based in Burns Lake, BC.

General Manager

Todd Kruszewski

Todd started in the construction industry in 1994 after graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the U of A. Starting his career with Peter Kiewit and in 1997 joined Alberta Transportation’s highway maintenance team as an Operations Engineer in Southern Alberta. Since then, Todd has gained roadway maintenance/construction experience with Carmacks, The Cement Association of Canada and SNC Lavalin.

Manager, Bridges & Infrastructure

Lorenz Bohnert

Lorenz joined Volker Stevin in May of 2011. Lorenz brings over 30 years experience in bridge construction, maintenance and rehabilitation. He offers a very broad-based education background in both civil engineering and geology. He is a highly qualified, knowledgeable Bridge Manager, his role primarily involves developing and managing the Bridge Division.

Equipment Manager

Charlie Innes

Charlie joined Volker Stevin in 2001. Responsibilities include working with the Management Team, Operations, other Volker Stevin companies, and the Equipment Group in the specification and acquisition of equipment, and ensuring the equipment is expertly maintained to meet the requirements of all.

Operations Controller

Marcel Rijkens

Marcel crossed the pond from VolkerWessels in Amersfoort, Netherlands, to continue his career in Calgary with VS Canada in 2014. He is a certified accountant (Netherlands) and in his role is responsible for accounting, controls and management information of VS Contracting and VS Highways. At VolkerWessels Marcel was the group reporting manager and handled consolidated financial reporting to both internal and external stakeholders.

Business Development Manager

Jack Brown

Jack came to Volker Stevin in 2001. Jack is a highly qualified, knowledgeable & experienced Manager with a vast knowledge of highway maintenance & construction projects of various types. Jack has been the Operations Manager since 2006. Jack has recently taken on the role of Business Development Manager, looking for new opportunities that support the Highway Maintenance Group.
